What are cookies?

A cookie is a file that is downloaded to your computer when you access certain web pages. Cookies allow a web page, among other things, to store and retrieve information about the browsing habits of a user or their equipment and, depending on the information it contains and the way in which their equipment is used, they can be used to recognize the user.

The law establishes that the user of the website must be informed of its nature and give express consent for its use.

Types of cookies

A – According to the entity that manages them
  • Own cookies: These are those that are sent to the user’s computer from the domain.
  • Third-party cookies: These are those that are sent to the user’s computer from a domain managed by another entity or sent by us but managed by others.
B – According to the time they remain activated
  • Session cookies: They store data only while the user accesses a web page.
  • Persistent cookies: The data is still stored on your computer and can be accessed for a period defined by the person responsible for the cookie, which can range from one to several minutes.
C – According to their purpose
  • Technical cookies: They are those that allow navigation through the website and the use of the different options that exist in it. These cookies are used without requiring the consent of the user, they are legally excepted. Entry, authentication and security cookies (all session cookies) are included here.
  • Personalization cookies: They allow access to the service with some specific characteristics, based on criteria defined from the user’s computer (for example, language, browser type, etc.)
  • Analysis cookies: They allow the person responsible for cookies to monitor and analyse the behaviour of website users.
  • Advertising cookies: They allow the management of the advertising spaces included in a web page.
