Within the MATES Project (Erasmus+) led by CIFP Someso, CIS Technology and Design dependent on GAIN – has developed a virtual simulator (SIMU AIRLESS) for painting large metal structures.

This simulator replicates the painting work of an Airless system and has been developed with the support of the Ferrol company INDASA, a specialist in painting in various industrial sectors for more than 40 years of experience.

The user of the simulator uses an HTC Vive helmet for the 3D visualization part and one of its controls simulates the paint gun.

A virtual environment has been created that represents a space of the Navantia Fene shipyard, where Jackets for offshore wind power have been built for several years. Painting practices can be carried out on various of the pieces that make up these jackets.

After carrying out the practice, the teacher obtains, in addition to a 3D view of the painted part, a series of reports on the trajectories that the gun has followed, process times and amount of material deposited.

As with the varnishing simulator developed by the CIS Technology and Design within another previous Erasmus + project, this simulator will be installed in those F.P. (vocational training schools) in our region that need it for any of the specialties that they teach.
